New Bottle and Label Designs for Blasted Church
Some news regarding Blasted Church Vineyards' new bottle and labels from designer Bernie Hadley-Beauregard ... Blasted Church Vineyards is pleased to announce a significant packaging improvement to new vintages of their wines. Starting today, Blasted Church wines will be bottled in a new series of Eco-bottles from St Gobain Glass. These bottles, on average, weigh 35% less in glass weight as compared to last year's bottles, and yet, they look and feel almost exactly the same as the previous ones. "There are multiple advantages to this initiative", states Blasted Church owner, Evelyn Campbell. "Lighter glass implies better efficiencies in transportation, handling, resource utilization, and financial economies ... and the significant environmental benefits are a godsend" she humorously added. Blasted Church is converting to the new Eco-glass bottles as soon as they become available through the supplier. In fact, Blasted Church is the first winery in BC to fully adopt an Eco-glass conversion. This comes as no surprise, as Blasted Church was also the first winery in Canada to feature Stelvin twist off capsules on all of their wines. In addition to this change, Blasted Church is also updating their widely successful label imagery. As new vintages are released, Blasted Church wines will feature the wildly quirky artwork of Chris Sickels of Red Nose Studio. Chris worked along with Blasted Church's marketing team at Brandever to design an exciting new series of graphics for the brand. Once again, the series tell the story of how a church was moved from the top of Fairview to the town of Okanagan Falls in 1929 - with the use of not-so-subtle dynamite (to loosen the nails). A compilation of the series (work in progress) is attached for your reference. Monika Melnychuk's inaugural artwork on the Blasted Church wine bottles will be retired this year. The original series may in fact become collector's items as the whimsically creative brand has proven to be so popular since inception. Throughout the years, Blasted Church wines have won numerous international wine label awards, while having also earned significant honours for wine quality. The winery's upper end wines have also not been spared. Starting this year, Blasted Church's Revered Series have been overhauled with such irreverent names as "Bible Thumper", "Praise Cheeses", and "Nothing Sacred". This coming summer, Blasted Church will also release a super limited selection of Methode Champenoise sparkling wines appropriately named "OMG". Blasted Church is one of BC's fastest growing wineries. "Our success has been built on the impressive quality of our wines, proudly crafted by Winemaker Richard Kanazawa, whose approach to winemaking is as creative and fresh as the winery's outward appearance."
